1. Loosen the knobs on the back of the backboard and adjust the paper guides to the size paper you will be padding.

2. Be sure the slide table is tight against the backboard. Place your paper between the paper guides and firmly against the backboard.

3. Place the pressure bar on top of the paper with the center notch in-line with the centerline on the backboard. The paper guides should fit between the notches on the pressure bar. If the paper you are padding is not a standard size, you can use just one of the paper guides to stack your paper against, or slide both paper guides out of the way and stack your paper in the center.

4. Be sure the latches are open. Take the rope ends and lay them in the cleats on the pressure bar. Take all of the slack out of the ropes but do not pull tight enough to extend the springs.

5. Close the latches. The latches should now be locked with the springs extended about ¼”. This will provide 30 lbs. of pressure on the paper.

6. Pull the slide table towards you until it stops.

7. Remove the backboard and rotate the Paddington II/G™ so the edge to be padded is accessible.

8. Apply the padding compound or carbonless solution to the paper. Be sure to thoroughly brush it on but not in a thick heavy layer.

9. Replace the backboard and press the 5-minute button on the timer at the front of the Paddington II/G™. Be sure the slide table is still pulled forward to the stop and that you can feel the flow of warm air coming up past the paper.

10. When the compound is dry, open both latches at once. To release the ropes, put one hand on the pressure bar, and with your other hand grab the end of the rope and pull toward the center and up at the same time. Repeat the process for the rope on the other side. You can now take the pressure bar off and remove the paper.
